The Senior Playworker is an exciting new role within the ELHAP playground team, funded through our three-year grant from BBC Children in Need.  This is a senior role within ELHAP and is responsible for the delivery of high quality adventure play with term-time groups, after school clubs, evening groups, Saturday Clubs and Holiday Playschemes. The Senior Playworker will manage the full-time playwork team and work directly on all Playground Projects with an emphasis on leading playwork best practice.

About you

To get the most out of the role you will be motivated and creative with experience and knowledge in facilitating innovative, adventurous projects and activities to engage disabled children and young people with diverse care and support needs. You’ll also be up for getting messy, muddy and leading the development, building and maintenance of the play environment. Naturally, you’ll need significant experience in supporting disabled children and young people in a community or play setting as well as leading and managing play projects. You’ll also be up to speed with equality and diversity, health and safety, and safeguarding children.

About us

ELHAP is one of only eight adventure playgrounds for disabled children and young people. For 48 years we have provided fantastic play experiences to many thousands of disabled children from across North East London and Essex. We are an independent charity in a unique and magical setting, unlike any other.

Note

These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicants will be expected to undertake satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosures. ELHAP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
