2024: A Year to Play for

2024 was a year to play for with change and challenge aplenty. Sadiq Khan was re-elected as London Mayor for another four years and with a new government ushering in an era of regional-central political alignment, dare we hope for greater stability to come? It remains clear that as poverty, poor mental and physical health and lack of opportunity continue to blight young lives, the power of play to improve things deserves far greater recognition from decision makers. Here we look at highlights of 2024, before we head into next year, steadfast in our commitment to continue supporting and promoting play, play providers and children across the capital.

Download our highlights here or for ‘the highlight’ check out our film below. We organised the inaugural London Parade for Play on the first ever International Day of Play. The sight of children, skipping, chanting and speaking in the political heart of the country was SO inspiring! But don’t take our word for it! Watch the film and then put 11 June in your calendar now, to be part of it in 2025!

London Play highlights 2024
Adventure play
Summer 2020: Following the first lockdown, adventure playgrounds were forced to open only to limited numbers of children. Open access adventure play became a thing of the past. Neighbourhood Play Havens supported adventure playgrounds to open to vulnerable and other excluded children and families.
London Play Press Releases
A fortnight of ‘Formula Fun’ go kart building excitement will kick off in The Regent’s Park this weekend, where the charity London Play is staging the first in a series of pop-up events for children across central London this summer.
