Design and build contacts

Are your local fixed equipment playgrounds boring?

Playground equipment manufacturers are always quick to point out that it's not their fault, the boring springy animals on expensive rubber safety surface inside a high security fence are what the parks or housing managers tell them to put in. Recently with the introduction of Play England's "Designs for Play" manual with its emphasis on natural landscapes for play and nature-play, many play-equipment manufacturing companies have sought to improve their services by adding landscape design staff to their teams.

There is a "do-it-yourself" alternative.

London Play has developed a list of independent contractors who can design, build or advise on how to make a better playground individually, based on what local children and parents say they want.

Download a list of design and build contacts below. Let us know if we can add new people or organisations to the list. (Please note that London Play does not endorse or recommend any of these practitioners. Ask to see examples of their work).

The Children's Play Information Service (CPIS) also has a listing of specialist play consultants, some of whom undertake design or design and build work. Further details: link
