London Play is pleased to announce the winner of the Lifetime in Play in London Award 2010.

Debbie Lapham who started her career as a volunteer playworker in Balham over 25 years ago, today works as Playservice Operations Manager in the London Borough of Sutton.

Debbie said: "I was completely overwhelmed when I heard that I had been chosen for this award and I am delighted to be recognised for my role in playwork. I can't think of a more rewarding way to spend my working life."

Scott Funnell who together with Bobbie Warwick nominated Debbie Lapham, said:

"I am delighted that Debbie is being recognised for the dedication she has shown during her career to providing opportunities for children's play, especially for those children who might ordinarily experience barriers to being included. She has worked tirelessly to promote the value of play, to ensure that children are having fun, and to pass on her knowledge to new Playworkers coming through."
