Hackney Play Association

HPA is a voluntary sector play development agency, working to improve play provision for school-aged children in Hackney. It provides practical help, information and advice to play projects and anyone concerned with children's play. It runs training courses for play and childcare workers, including courses which lead to NVQ and other qualifications. In partnership with London Play, it developed Quality in Play, a play-specific quality assurance system.

Local authority

The Learning Trust provides LB Hackney's education service and includes early years and play. It is responsible for nurseries, early years centres, playgroups and for out of school provision such as adventure playgrounds, after school clubs and holiday playschemes. The service will be returning to the council after July 2012.
